Referrals. Indiana Office
of Family and Children, Indiana Department of Education, Indiana Department
of Correction and comparable agencies in Ohio and Michigan. Crossroad
also receives referrals from juvenile courts, health professionals,
and families.
Employees. About 150 counselors,
teachers, therapists, housekeepers, cooks, groundskeepers, chaplains,
nurses, and others.
History. Founded in 1883
as “The Reformed Orphans Home of Fort Wayne, Indiana” by the
Reformed Church, predecessor to today’s United Church of Christ.
Budget. $7.6 million; about
83 percent comes from agencies referring youth to Crossroad programs.
The balance comes from individual, corporate, church and foundation
donors.
