Donor Options
The generosity of our donors is an essential ingredient to success, both now and in the years to come. If you want to make a gift of lasting significance, the giving ideas below may be of interest to you. For more information about these types of gifts, or other ways you can help, please call Crossroad’s Development Office at 260.484.4153.

Planned and Bequest Gifts
A bequest included in your will or living trust is one way to establish a lasting legacy, especially if this gift is designated to The Fort Wayne Children's Home of the United Church of Christ, Inc. (Crossroad's legal name). An individual can give a specified amount, a percentage of the estate or the residual.

A charitable gift annuity of cash or appreciated assets gives you or someone you designate a fixed income for life. Gift annuities provide additional income (part of which may be tax-free), a substantial charitable tax deduction and the satisfaction of supporting the charities of your choice.

A charitable trust allows you to provide an income for yourself or others for a fixed term while making a lasting gift to the charities of your choice. Charitable trusts can be for a term of not more than 20 years, for life, or a combination of the two. As a trust donor, you transfer assets to a trust managed by a trustee such as your bank or the United Church Foundation of the United Church of Christ. You may choose a fixed income trust or a variable income trust.

A gift of retirement assets, such as pension plans or Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), may allow you to give more that you thought possible, while eliminating taxes that may otherwise largely consume these assets.

A gift of life insurance policies or proceeds you may no longer need offers excellent tax benefits. Life insurance also can be used to replace assets given away, thereby providing for loved ones in addition to your charitable interests.
