Shannon Rahn

Therapist, MS Ed, LMHCA

“I believe the key to an individual’s success is their mindset. I work to empower clients by building upon strengths and skills they already have while also addressing patterns of negative thinking they may have developed over time. As their self-awareness, coping skills, and confidence increase, they are more likely to feel empowered to face and overcome the challenges in their life.”

Shannon received her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Indiana University-Purdue University and her graduate degree in Mental Health Counseling from Purdue University Fort Wayne. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counseling Associate and enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults. In addition to individual therapy, Shannon also works with clients through couples, family, and group therapy modalities. Shannon has experience working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, dissociative disorders, non-suicidal self-injury, substance abuse, personality disorders, and clients with a history of trauma.

Shannon takes a client-centered approach, utilizing tools and techniques specific to the client’s needs, goals, and individual strengths.  She is particularly drawn to Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy. Her special areas of interest include research on hypnotherapy, helping adolescents and young adults overcome trauma and self-injurious behaviors, and working with clients who identify as LGBTQ+.
